Chelsea advanced to the next round of the FIFA Club World Cup with a 2–0 victory over LAFC, thanks to goals from Pedro Neto and Enzo Fernández. The match offered LAFC valuable lessons and showcased moments that will encourage their team and supporters moving forward.

Match Overview

Early on, Denis Bouanga looked to create space and stretch Chelsea’s back line. LAFC produced a few half-chances in the opening stages but lacked precision in the final third.

Chelsea, meanwhile, remained composed under pressure. Once they settled, they controlled possession and looked more threatening with each attack. Neto opened the scoring in the first half with a decisive finish inside the box, shifting momentum firmly in Chelsea’s favor.

After halftime, LAFC pushed to find an equalizer. Bouanga continued to be a key outlet on the left side, but Chelsea’s defense stayed compact and limited clear opportunities. Enzo Fernández then added Chelsea’s second goal, effectively ending LAFC’s hopes of a comeback.

Late Tensions

As frustrations grew, an on-field argument broke out between Bouanga and goalkeeper Hugo Lloris. The disagreement appeared to center on defensive positioning and lack of finishing support. Backup goalkeeper Neto stepped in to intervene, further highlighting the tension within the squad. While the situation did not escalate further, it underscored LAFC’s disappointment on a big stage.

Looking Ahead

Chelsea’s experience and execution proved decisive, sending them through confidently to the next round. The Premier League side once again demonstrated their ability to manage matches and take advantage of key moments.

For LAFC, the match offered both positives and areas to address. Their willingness to press and compete against a top European side was encouraging, but the need for sharper finishing and better communication was clear. The experience of facing a club of Chelsea’s level will be important as LAFC continues to grow on the international stage.

Despite the result, LAFC’s energy and effort were evident throughout the night. The supporters remained vocal, creating an atmosphere that reflected the passion behind the club.
